Course Description:
This 2-day seminar is designed to assist companies that import commercial shipments into the United States to better understand their obligations to take reasonable care in conducting business with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies. The Customs Modernization Act has placed responsibility on the importer for proper entry, classification, valuation, and marking of imported merchandise. Failure to comply can result in penalties and fines, and in some cases both civil and/or criminal penalties. In addition, failure to comply with proper recordkeeping can result in other penalties.

This seminar will help companies in understanding the General Rules of Interpretation to classify their products to determine admissibility and proper duties, taxes, or other fees. The regulations covering the methods of valuation of merchandise are covered so goods can be entered under the correct amount with proper additions or deductions. plus many more topics as listed in the agenda.
The seminar is also a good review course for those individuals studying to take the U.S. Customs Border Protection Broker's Exam and also a refresher course for those already licensed as Customhouse brokers.

Jan Seal International Trade Consultant Jan Seal is a Management Consultant on International Trade and a Licensed Customhouse Broker with over 35 years of experience in imports and exports. Ms. Seal is a frequent speaker/instructor at nation-wide seminars and webinars for international companies located around the world and international trade organizations. She is also a consultant for medium to multi-national companies on trade compliance. She has taught courses for Import Specialist at the U.S. National Customs Academy. She is the author of six books on various international trade topics available on Amazon. One of her books is titled: "Import Documentation and Procedures". She received her BA Degree from California State University at Fullerton with a year of post-graduate work in Education at the University of California, Riverside. She received her MBA at California State University, Dominguez Hills, and is a member of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration. |

Payment is required 2 days before the date of the conference. We accept American Express, Visa and MasterCard. Make checks payable to MetricStream Inc. (our parent company).
Cancellations and substitutions:
Written cancellations through fax or email (from the person who has registered for this conference) received at least 10 calendar days prior to the start date of the event will receive a refund — less a $75 administration fee. No cancellations will be accepted — nor refunds issued — within 10 calendar days before the start date of the event.
On request by email or fax (before the seminar) a credit for the amount paid minus administration fees ($75) will be transferred to any future ComplianceOnline event and a credit note will be issued.
Substitutions may be made at any time. No-shows will be charged the full amount.
We discourage onsite registrations, however if you wish to register onsite, payment to happen through credit card immediately or check to be submitted onsite. Conference material will be given on the spot if it is available after distributing to other attendees. In case it is not available, we will send the material after the conference is over.
