Why Should You Attend:

The primary regulations on pet food focus on product labeling and the ingredients which may be used. There are certain items that must be included on product labels, and specific requirements for each of these items. Additionally, there are also rules for non-required or descriptive information included on labels which must not be false or misleading in any way.

This course will describe what is required on a pet food nutritional label, where each required element should be located, and how each element is determined based on the latest legislation from the FDA, state and local agencies, and guidance from AAFCO. It is imperative that companies manufacturing pet food have a clear understanding of what is required. Failure to meet minimum requirements on pet food labeling can result in enforcement action against the product. At the end of the course, companies will have a clearer understanding of labeling requirements and be able to meet current regulatory standards.
